So I'm running 10.10 on an Asus N10J. I recently reinstalled it and since then I'm having an issue with battery life and I'm wondering if it has something to do with the kernel or something like that.
The battery seems to charge fine and when fully charged it says I have 100% and around 3 hours of life left. But when I unplug the laptop and use battery power, it only lasts around 30 minutes and just shuts off. No suspend or hibernation, no warning, just dead. The battery monitor doesn't reflect this by dropping considerably; when it dies, it might say it has 75% left.
I've researched this pretty thoroughly and can't find anyone with a similar issue. I've played around with the gnome-settings to adjust the warning levels and so forth to no avail.
I've also looked at the battery info in the ACPI folder and it doesn't give me any clues. The battery is a couple years old, and I'm sure I'm due for a new one before too long. But this shouldn't be happening. I really don't think it's the battery itself.
I'm considering just reinstalling Ubuntu to see what happens, but I'd like to save that as a last resort.
Any ideas?
If you'd like me to post the output of anything just let me know and I'll get that to you. Thanks.
