Can't see hard drives from install disc with P8P67 LE

When I try to install Ubuntu 11.04 (x32 and x64) to my new computer, BIOS can see the hard drives perfectly fine, but the installer can not. It always bring me to a screen that says "can not find a live medium". I believe it is the motherboard itself that has a problem, because I tried multiple hard drives to install to and none of them were detected by the install disc. Any suggestions?

Hardware: • ASUS P8P67 LE Motherboard • Xigmatic NRP-PC702 700W PSU • G.Skill Ripjaw Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600MHz RAM • Intel i7 Sandy Bridge 2600K • ATI Radeon HD 4350 • Used multiple Western Digital SATA hard drives, 200GB and 1TB models

The live medium is the cdrom. You aren't even booting to the desktop right? The problem is the cd, not the hd.

I am having an odd issue as well, brand new system and install. Tried CD and USB twice each, verified MD5 is perfect both cd and usb work on other machines. But on Core I5 2500 with asus P8P67 LE REV 3.0 I can't get install to run. It keeps telling me it cant find "live media" after it boots to busy box.

USB is not made by San Disk either. Pretty much at a loss here, never had issues hope someone else has some ideas??

Oh also tried previous working install CD from ubuntu 9 and 10.10 and it has same issues. Hard drives are WD Carvair Black 500GB in Raid 0

im having the exact same issue. same motherboard with i5 chip.

seagate 1 tb harddrive. win 7 installs fine but ubuntu is giving the live media error. tried through usb as well.

knoppix says cant mount fielsystem...

please help.im thinking its something to do with the motherboard n drive detection

I known you probably already done this. But have you tried different SATA ports and cables. Also try jumper on mother board to set defaults and maybe even pull the battery too. Good Luck and God Bless Johnny333
