i am just shooting a question asked by my friend. if you give continously 5 stars in chat menu of your gmail account, it just displays 3 stars. why is that?

It is not specific for just five stars. If you enter any no. of stars greater than 2 they will reduced by 2. But it is neither a bug nor an easter egg. From my observation what i found is that if you place any text between 2 stars then it is converted to bold e.g. *hi* will look like [B]hi [/B]so, *** looks like *****
