Debian Popularity Contest - automatic tracking of most popular packages

I haven't seen this discussed on Ubuntu Forums, so here goes.

There is now a package for Debian called popularity-contest. This enables automatic tracking of what packages people have installed and what they use most. This way it's easier for those doing releases to decide what to include on the main CD, what on extras (or whatever) and what to require a download for.

This could work very well for Ubuntu. If there's a package that the vast majority of people use, but which isn't part of the standard install, then it could be considered for inclusion.

Its been around for a while.

And it is automatically installed when you install Ubuntu, just not enabled.

if you want to enable it, run "dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest"
