I find this images in a Brazilian forum thread. Seens that a company called "yellow icon" already developped the icons for ubuntu 12.04. And man, they look quite nice !

Maybe. I'm Brazilian too, so I also speak Brazilian Portuguese. I read a little about it and in fact the company was hired by Canonical, but no one really knows for sure if the job is the new icon set or any other UI for PP. It is also not clear to me if this is actually a commercial contract or a contribution from his studio to Ubuntu.

They develop icons, logos, etc for large accounts (see here http://www.yellowicon.com/clients). And Canonical is included in the client list.

Regards, Effenberg

EDIT: It seems like the owner of Yellowicon.com was a GUI developer for Conectiva. He created kde-crystal-icons and mentions having worked for Conectiva, Lindows and Suse.

Really loving those folders. The dots and the shape is awesome.

I know very little about design and stuff, but their portfolio is impressive... It would be nice to have a professional look in the OS :)

A glossy icon theme is 2011 is a bit anachronistic, I doubt this is the papable icon theme for PP.

Hey, I like that icon theme, and would love for it to be the default for PP's Unity. If not, then make it available in the repositories. I like it :)

Agreed!

Besides, it's too pretty. :D

It'll make the default theme look worse than it already is...

I'm so glad these aren't the 12.04 icons - they're far too dated looking.

I didn't notice before the YellowIcon is owned by Everaldo, a great designer who made the default Crystal theme of KDE3. Really nice iconset but too crystal for my tastes.

would like to see a mockup of how these would look with unity

I like them! I hope we get this, or at least something very similar!

anyway, I think most of us agree that the present default icon theme is not the most beautiful, and it combines terribly with the default theme colors..... it's always the very first thing I change after installation :)

To switch to what? faenza or awoken? no please.. At the moment the less cartoonish and more consistent icon theme out there is still elementary and its spinoff humanity, included in ubuntu. (The official gnome icon theme is so sad I don't consider at all). About the icon theme posted here we can see just few icons and at a fixed size, this is not enough to evaluate it.

Looks awesome, would love to test it out and see how it goes.

Looks good generally, but I hate the "Home" and "Trash" icons. They seem a little too "inspired by Mac OS X". I'd rather a more abstract/impressionist rendition of those two icons.

I want my desktop to look unmistakably Ubuntu, not like I've installed a Mac OS X theme.

I like all of the icons that are shown, with the exception of the "Places" icons. Those just look out of place. I would still like to see these included in 12.04 tho!
