Is there a linux GBA emulator with link cable capabilities ?

Visualboy Advance and VBA-M have link functionality in windows. However, no port for linux has been developed.
Theoretically you can compile from source the windows working version and that should solve the problem. Or at least that is what I have found out after several hours of looking for other alternatives.
HOWEVER, I haven't been able to compile it for some reason. If you can, let me know so I try something else. :P
