Hi guys,

Maybe I'm the first to post a new "commoner" thread here... an honor :)

I have read somewhere that next version of Ubuntu will use Wayland as display server, is it going to be included in "QQ" ? http://wayland.freedesktop.org/

Cheers, Simone

EDIT: ops, I mistaken the other thread for a sticky, then is the second one loll

Wayland is nowhere near ready.

The components are complete, but a pure Wayland or Wayland+XWayland desktop is still far off.

This is the QQ release schedule

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QuantalQuetzal/ReleaseSchedule?action=show&redirect=QReleaseSchedule

I think that we might have a better idea of this after the Developer summit.

I have just been reading this:

http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/04/ubuntu-12-04-development-update-19/

Note what it says about the Ubuntu Developer Summit at paragraph 5 and 6 under the heading What Next?

UDS-Q runs from May 7th to May 11th, watch the normal news outlets and here to see what's coming during the Quantal release cycle.

But... It's soooo yesterday!

Precise is stale. It's 6 months old. :)

Loll ! Downloading it now, just got my new Momentus XT 750 HD, installing soon !

Personally, I wouldn't expect Wayland before 14.04

I did the same thing a lot of times today lol. Gotta update bookmarks. Our old neighbors like Ubuntu Origami, Cooking with Ubuntu, Ubuntu Poetry etc must be really jealous of us :P

Loll ! After I read your sentence, I just looked at your avatar hahaha !

Just playing around with my 12.04 now, everything works perfect, HUGE step up from 11.10, imo. Bluetooth finally OK, with the new HD boot in sub 10 seconds including inserting password... not bad !
