As many of you may know we have created a U+1 testing team to do a better job of reporting bugs, and generally to make things better for all during the testing cycle. To that end, we have created a wiki where a lot of information regarding testing is available. You don't have to be a team member to be able to test RR, testing is open to everyone regardless of your experience level. That being said, to get the most possible feedback from your bug reports, check this out, before creating a bug report:

In the link I posted Guitara (Nick Skaggs) has noted that there will be no alpha releases and only 1 beta release - so I am assuming that the 'Release Schedule' is not up to date ??

Beside the Alpha 1 entry it says *tentative, flavours only*. I assume that *flavours only* means the derivatives only, and not Ubuntu.

I added a link to the Daily Ubuntu iso, in the first post.

I tried yesterday's daily build and it would not get past the screen that said I have enough disk space and I am connected to the internet. It just froze at that point. I waited about 20 minutes and seen no disk activity. I downloaded raring-desktop-amd64.iso

Although the md5sum checked OK, I thought maybe it was just a bad ISO.

So, this morning I downloaded today's ISO and got the same results.

I am not able to find the normal Ubuntu alpha release. Am I just trying to jump in too early? I would like to participate in testing but, so far am at a dead end. Thanks for any help.

There isn't an Ubuntu alpha or beta release this time around, the daily live iso, are supposed to be tested and usable, but for several of us, the latest kernel won't even boot.

Freed up some space on the HD and was ready to jump in. I guess I'll give it some time. Thanks for the reply!

I finally managed to get Raring installed. It was hanging at the same place as before with no disk activity. But, I noticed it was doing some intensive disk activity on my 1TB USB drive so I turned that off and it installed successfully. :D

I noticed on http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ that the Debian Installer Nightly Builds are no longer being made. Is this a Permanent Change? Just wondering.

If you mean the alternate install iso, it has been discontinued, and all the functionality has/will be rolled into the Live iso.

In deed, even Lubuntu is considering dropping the alternate image if and when the mini.iso provides adequate wireless support.

But as of today the Lubuntu alt images still exist:

Just wondering if I forgot to do something in Raring. I get alerts that something went wrong and I click to proceed. It asks if I was to send logs with the info and then it asks if I was to send the nvidia log. Then it never goes past that point. With Quantal it used to bring up a bug in launchpad and asked if this was a new one or should I just add my name as being affected.

I'm not seeing any of that and I don't know what I did differently. If I'm going to contribute I may as well do it right.

Error reporting has changed quite a bit over the last couple of releases, have a look here, for an explanation.

I installed a couple of things that appear to help Apport. I have Whoopsie installed. I don't have daisy or errors. The nearest thing to Daisy is daisy-player in SPM.

Is there anything I need to do? At the end of encountering an error it asks for my password but, does not appear to send any data.

Whoopsie, is sending data to daisy for use on https://errors.ubuntu.com/. You can still create bug reports using apport:

ubuntu-bug <package_name>

Raring Ringtail 13.04 final release is April 25th and Hardy Heron server 8.04, Lucid Lynx desktop 10.04 and Oneiric Ocelot 11.10 reach End of Life on May 9 2013, correct?

These dates will mean changes to my custom grub community wiki.

The EOL dates actually just recently changed to May 9th, I think originally they were supposed loose support on the Raring release day.

I thought the dates would be the same, but could never find the exact day only the month. I guess things are firming up now that they are getting close.

Saucy Salamander now open for development

Most cycles, we have a week of breathing room where we can flip all the switches in a coordinated fashion and open everything at exactly the same time, but this archive opening sees various members of the release, archive, and toolchain teams in transit all over the globe, so we'll stagger things a bit.

In the next day or two, you should see a followup to this email from Matthias Klose doing his usual announcement of what has changed in the default toolchain, and Colin Watson turning on autosyncs from Debian. Rather than wait until we're all awake at the same time, however, I'm unfreezing the archive this morning and declaring Saucy open for active development.
