bringing this up in FC meeting

I am still positive about

  1. If Staff are going to be absent for an extended time it is only good form that the they advise the Forum at their earliest opportunity, then the Council will know what is happening and there is no need to consider replacement.
  1. If a Staff member is going to be absent for greater than say 6 months they should consider stepping down and of course be able to rejoin the staff upon their return if they so desire .
  1. Staff absent for greater than 6 months with out any notification then it can be deemed as abandoning the role and replacement can be sought.

Since I won't be able to make this month's FC meeting, my proxy (if a vote is taken) is +1 for each of Elfy's points 1,2 and 3.

I think this is a discussion that could usefully be revived. My own bee in bonnet is that I believe debate in the staff forums is an essental part of being staff. We might not agree on things, but dissenting views are of as much value as +1's. Perhaps more so. Grit in the oyster shell and the pearl of infinite value, and all that.
