Stupid question of the day #1

Could some kind soul tell me what the Album feature is for in the user profile?

I take it that we're not trying to out-do Facebook here, so what is its intent?

And while we're here, how is it that you guys are able to get BIG PICs in your messages, and I just get thumbnails? Even after (nearly) 6 years here, I still haven't worked out this images thing.

Two ways:

1 - upload the image to a hosting service and then enclose the URL the hosting service gives you for the image between [noparse][IMG] and [/IMG][/noparse] tags.

2 - attach the image in the normal way with the attachment manager so that you get a thumbnail. Preview the post and you will see something like [noparse][ATTACH]123456[/ATTACH][/noparse] for the thumbnail in the message editor. Right-click on the thumbnail in the preview and choose open in new tab (or window). Go to the new tab/window and copy the URL of the full-sized image with ctrl-C. Now go back to the message editor, paste in the image URL and enclose that with [noparse][IMG] [/IMG][/noparse] tags. Preview again and you should see the full-sized image and the thumbnail which you can move around your post ad lib before posting. I leave the thumbnail in place. With VB3 (before the forum upgrade), if you didn't, the image sometimes disappeared altogether, but I'm not sure what happens with VB4 if you remove the thumbnail.

Thanks. I've tried something with the thing in the Welcome thread. At least if something goes wrong, only a few people can see it. :)

I think I have an album in my profile (actually, two... one public).

BIG pics tend to get thumbnailed anyway (If/when we find 'em).

Which reminds me, why I don't use it more often. Everything get thumbed. :p
