Linux Mint 15 installer crash

Its obvious or i wouldn't be here, but I am having trouble separating and creating partitions. I am able to boot linux mint 15 cinnamon from both a burnt cd and a formatted usb. When I try installing to the hd the installer crashes in the partitions selection screen. There are no available part. to select from and when I try to click on the + and add one the installer crashes (link to screenshot provided). Mint 16 was released a few days ago.

If you want to stay with Mint 15, you might look to see if the posts announcing the release of the Mint 15 release candidates and the final are still up at linuxmint.com. The comment threads to these posts are intended to collect bug reports. If that installer failure happened to others, it may have been reported there and a workaround offered.
