Zorin does not boot since latest updates asks for user name & password

After downloading the latest updates from update manger Ubuntu will not boot. I'm using the Zorin lite disto. The system passwords are not set in the bios. I never turn the passwords on.

Tried booting a previous version of Ubuntu, same result.

I get as far as this login screen.

Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS "user/pc name" tty1

"user/pc name" Login: " i enter my user name"

Password: "here i use the password i use for update manager"

Then i get some text, welcome to ubuntu, * Documentation, www.ubuntu.com, the ubuntu software programs are free, blah, blah, etc

"user/pc name"~$

Still can't boot.

What's the command to get to the desktop, and how do I fix this problem, thanks.

Can I disable this login request from this terminal screen, assuming that is the terminal screen i see asking me to log in.

I've been looking through their forums, haven't found anyone with my problem. I have to sign up for an account before I can post there.

I've decided I'm done with Zorin, it was a mistake to begin with. I've managed to transfer some file to a thumb drive, but I can't find my firefox bookmarks.

Found no solution, nothing has worked, no support on Zorins site.
