Can't boot Linux Mint from USB

I have gone from Mint to Ubuntu back to Mint all in the same afternoon and I am getting quite frustrated. I no longer have Windows on my computer. I have discs to go back but I imagine there will be mbr problems for me to surmount.

I currently am typing from my computer booted up with a USB stick with Mint 17. I have it installed on my computer but cannot seem to be able to boot into it no matter what I try. I don't really know what or how to try (not meaning stupid, just ignorant) to get to boot up into Linux.

I turned of SECURE BOOT and tried to turn off UEFI, but can't seem to be able to do it.

I have tried Linux in the past and I cannot see anything like a boot up menu. I can't get rid of the WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER.

Please help me just to be able to boot and then I will attempt to read up on using Linux.

Sorry to frustrate you more, but Mint is not supported in the main support forums here. While you are welcome to seek help here, Linux Mint has an active community and forum. You might think about posting there, too. To improve your chances of help, please let us know what you've tried and what exactly is happening when you boot from the USB. Are you trying to dual-boot with Win? Is there free space on the drive for Ubuntu?

To improve your chances you would be better to post your second issue in a new thread and stick to one support request here.

If you have installed Mint in UEFI, DON'T switch it off and try to boot.

Leave UEFI and Secure Boot enabled, then install Mint.
