Ok, lets organize a bit. Soon I will have a site up for use (with bug tracking) but until then lets try to claim the bugs we are fixing here. We have a launch pad now. https://launchpad.net/products/usp

No bugs here just reporting please. Also, post here with the message I WILL HELP so we know you want to join the project.

Main Developer: chanders (schanderbally at gmail.com)

Developers: profoX (profoX at ubuntu-nl.org) note360 (note360 at gmail.com)

UPDATE: first bug tracking is out I know I missed alot please PM me with the ones I missed.

Bugs:

-profoX kinda fixed it

  • If you enable "do_not_filter". Then the headings in the "All Applications" do not work. e.g. If I click on "Office" nothing will happen.

Features:

  • Places in the side pane (with the pin and stuff)(allow it to be toggled off?)
  • Start App and the add to startup on right click
  • Bigger Place Icons - chanders (I assume)
  • Drag the desktop folder to places - profoX already did it (not done yet)
  • Gconf entry to change the text colour in USP - profoX
  • Having the places pane share bookmarks with the places system of nautilus & the original menu, since they serve the same purpose. It would also be easier when using a removable hard drive. The network items could be placed in a cascading menu to save some space and the removable drives too, if there are too many.
  • having a 'favorites' category as the first category in the application pane when it's in 'all applications' mode. This category could be active by default when opening the menu. I normally only use the 'all applications' mode because I open too many applications frequently to make efficient use of the current favorites mode. Having a favorites category in all applications mode would allow me to have the best of both.

Proposals: __Coming after next release__(from Developers)

  • having the button of an application category in a pressed state when the category is active (because now you have to scan the list of apps to see which category is shown)

Just wanted to say that you should give chanders more credits ;) He's the REAL developer.

I just help with some basic stuff (little bugs and little things) :)

edit: oh, and if you give me credits somewhere for contributing, please use the name "profoX" and email "profox at ubuntu-nl.org" instead of "_profox" :-k

No problem at all, we are all contributing and that is the most important thing ;-)

Good morning guys! The beta thread for profox is a good idea... Users may apply the patch if they wish. I will review the patches before I apply them in the next release...

Please put a little disclaimer so that users know that they could muck up their system if they dont know what they are doing...

@Profox - I didnt apply the desktop fix because at some point I will ahve to remove ALL hard coding and then it would be double work.. (users can still drag the desktop from their home directory)

I started a launchpad thing for us. https://launchpad.net/products/usp

Please set up a real bugzilla or launchpad on the real site :) there are not many bugs right now and most bugs are easy fixable, but bugzilla or launchpad will be alot better to track all open/closed bugs!

PS: I rewrote the Filter code a little bit, it now behaves correctly (removed 2 little bugs) so it's completely fixed now, not "kinda" anymore ;) patch is in beta/patches

edit: haha, 3 replies in the same minute :) you already set up the bugzilla.. good! thank you

This wasnt working it was a place holder while I set something else up. I am also going start a drupal blog at zephyrwood.org/chandler and give you and chandler moderator control (my server so I still get admin control). Their you will be able to post a book(wiki), blogposts and eventually upload. We should keep this forum as the main thing though as it is good to stay real close to the people.
