Fedora 21

Besides Debian Jesse I have Fedora 21 installed as my stable system. Fedora 21 has worked perfect for me since the RC and upgraded to the final release just fine. I like how Fedora 21 came with one app per task, that is how I like things. I was able to remove the couple of apps I was never going to need or use without other things getting destroyed in the process! I used Easy Life to install multimedia codecs. Totem and Rhythmbox were slightly crippled by default, I guess because of legal reasons in the US.

Installing VLC took care of the multimedia issues. My music is all in ogg format so Rhythmbox still gets the job done. If I really need to play an mp3 VLC handles it just fine. I was impressed with the font rendering in Fedora these days, fonts look crisp and clear! There have been a lot of updates since the final release and I have not had a single problem with any of them! People on the Fedora Forum seem real nice and helpful. I found the answers to all my questions on the forum with no problem.

How do you like Fedora 21?

F21 Workstation (Gnome 3) was smooth for me. Applications responsive, both default and what I pulled from Fedora repos. Surprisingly stable for just released.

Some challenges: Fonts are better, but still need some tweaking (install Tweak Tool), and I had some visual tearing with pages displaying in Google Chrome.

Ubuntu Unity 14.04 is still my daily driver, no other OS does fonts better. And Google Chrome runs smoothly in Unity. For me, Ubuntu's ability to render fonts evenly across system and applications is a huge plus.

Depending on your needs, Fedora 21 is very nice :)

I installed the tweak tool so I could have Simple Dock and a couple other extensions. I can hardly notice any difference between the fonts in Fedora and Ubuntu, they both look great. I really wanted Gnome 3.14 and Fedora gave me the best experience out of everything I tried. I do have Debian Jesse installed on another hard drive too. The fonts in Jesse do not look near as good but it still has many good qualities too.

Fedora turned out to be exactly what I had been looking for. Plymouth always displays nice, the fonts are excellent and I have the current version of Gnome Shell. I find myself using my computer more now instead of fixing things.

Played with F22 yet? I loaded it on a spare drive and did not particularly care for the initial experience. During boot of the live DVD, the display dimmed. Once installed, it did the same. I pulled the drive and replaced it with 15.04. I reinstall in a couple of days and see what can be done.

I switched to LMDE 2 Cinnamon a while back. I needed something with long term support and new versions of Cinnamon are a nice bonus. Fedora has never failed to work on any of my hardware though, just wish they made an LTS release.

Pleased with F22 Gnome here, other than a couple very minor Nautilus annoyances. Smooth and polished. Tweaked font rendering, added codecs and Gnome extensions, good to go.

F22 KDE has more bumps, but I found it a smoother release than Kubuntu 15.04. Bumps in both seem to be upstream issues in the new KDE.

RHEL/CentOS is the LTS in the Red Hat Family. Seems unlikely Fedora will do an LTS as long as it's sponsored by Red Hat. Not sure they'd see a purpose.
