Ubuntu Touch Contact and Celandar Sync

I just got my BQ Ubuntu Phone with Ubuntu Touch and I am looking for information on hown to sync calnedars and contacts with a caldav/carddav server. So far I was not able to find any information on this topic. Does anyone more?

One more general question. Which forum do you guys use for discussions on ubuntu touch? Overhere I could not find very much...

There is very little discussion on Ubuntu phones because up to now there have been very few ubuntu phone users. We get a lot of posts asking if Ubuntu Touch can be installed on this phone or that phone and all we can do is provide a link to a wiki page. There are also few forum members porting Ubuntu Touch to other devices. So, not much discission on those areas. Besides a certain IRC channel would be the best place for those wanting help with porting.

There is nothing stopping you from starting a thread in this section fo the forum. What response you get will depend upon how many forum members have possession of a Ubuntu device.

As for caldav/carddav server syncing a question about that was asked on Discourse Ubuntu. I recommended the person to ask about it on the Ubuntu Engineering Q & A on Ubuntu On Air. And 2 days later the person did actually ask the question of a couple of Canonical Engineers. Well: that is the purpose of the Q & A. The response was: It would be nice to have and anyone is welcome to develop that functionality.

Every week on Ubuntu On Air there is a Ubuntu Community Q & A. For several weeks most questions have been about Ubuntu phones. Although the Canonical employees present are involved in the community side of things they are programmers and they have been running Ubuntu Touch on Nexus devices. They have also written some useful phone apps.

Every two weeks on Ubuntu On Air there is a Ubuntu Engineering Q & A. So, we have a couple of useful places to hang out at.

to export my iphone contacts to an ics file. next I imported them into my gmail account and then syced my contacts with gmail from my E4.5. This seems to work.

Thanks, but I do not want to use google or apple... I want to sync my phone with my own caldav/carddav server!

I have also tried to sync my Contacts, using Bluetooth on my Nokia 208. When trying to send a contact from the Nokia to the BQ I get a message on the Nokia saying "sending faild" (no further information). Altough I paird the devices. Also I am not able to change the visible device name (for bluetooth) on the aquaris for some reason. Not beeing able to sync my contacts kept me from switching to the Ubuntuphone. I do also not want to import my contacts into google.

Edit: Additional question. Is there also no way to import contacts from the SIM card? Haven't found that option either. I also like to know if there is any bug tracking for the Ubuntu OS on the BQ Aquaris 4.5? I have the BQ Ubuntu phone and so far I'm liking the OS, but the lack of apps is the main issue.

I'm trying to get away from Google and I'm surprised that Canonical are pushing non-open source stuff on this phone so much. It asks if you want to use Google services, but doesn't offer an alternative. And I see that the Amazon app is right up there atop the list of apps. Not quite what I was hoping for. That said, since there are so few apps, I'm guessing that they have been forced to take what is available.

Anyway, carddav, caldav and webdav are all on my Must Have list too. As is (I'm ashamed to say) WhatsApp.

So, yes, I'm sticking with it and I think that we should start a new Ubuntu Touch specific chat tread here.

I was also wondering why I couldn't easily import a vcf-file. I could only solve it by sending it as an Email. I don't use FB or Google so it was the only way.
