I can think of a few folk here who would be fine candidates. If you think this might be you, please think about putting your name forward.

Forwarded also to our community News Letter.

The more places the better!
Let's hope we get some nominations.
I went to that link (various times) and never saw any way to apply, nor recommend anyone. I have the time, and was interested, but couldn't throw my hat in. It said to go to the mail-lists, but the mail-lists it said to go to were closed/private.
Now I seeing emails, asking me to vote on that... Qualifying me as a "voter", but no information on where to go to vote, or who is running???
I think I am a bit confused on this. I think there is a disconnect in the information flow with that.

That is a jolly shame, because I for one would have been pleased to see you apply.
I will admit that I'd more or less forgotten about the whole thing, on account of stuff happening at home (health and stuff), and I just do not see myself as Council (of any kind) material. When I got the email, I followed the instructions for registering for voting, and when you do so, you end up on a page for voting which has all the names. I'm used to seeing a list of names of people I've heard of but don't know a lot about; but these were all names that were totally unfamiliar. I can provide them if that would help, but it doesn't address the underlying issue.
I think someone needs to know that there's a glitch in the system. I kind of wonder, if you (one) are so used to using mailing lists and so forth, that you forget that others can't see them/apply to them or find that kind of thing challenging.
Hey MAFoElffen -
I completed my vote - but how ? My memory a bit hazy. In the Email is the private link to the voting page. Open the voting page and click the "vote" box > candidate list; Arrange your order of preferences > vote now
hope this helps
The email cam 4 days ago. I have that email, that asked me to register to vote. It does not have a link to vote anywhere in that one.
I registered that day. Got the confirmation for being confirmed for that at that page... But never received any email after that with a link to vote anywhere(???)
Dang.
MAFoElffen - Hey
Maybe give merlijn-sebrechts a shout: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-loco-council-elections-are-open/41114
-get this straightened out-
@Bashing-om -- Went there and told him. Thank you!

I posted to him that you were affected also, so not an isolated event.
The emails he is sending me are addressed as no-reply, so just posting there to reply. I don't have a direct email address to him.
Here is the real story on that... Ubuntu Mebers should register with their UserName@ubuntu.com email address. (Period) That is what he had me go back and do...
This was my response to him: (https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/re-ubuntu-loco-council-elections-are-open/41213/4)
I went back to that email and registered as mafoelffen@ubuntu.com...
Here is where the confusion from that occurred:
If your launchpad email address is public, use that address to register. If your launchpad email address is not public, use <username>@ubuntu.com to register.
mafoelffen@gmail.com is the registered address of my launchpad account and it is "public." That said to register to the public email address of the account, so I did...
That is also the email address that I get all correspondence and emails from launchpad... As an Ubuntu Member, one of the perks is our @ubuntu.com email address, but that only works for Members, who have set that up to redirect to an existing email address. (Is is a perk, but never was a requirement.)
All Ubuntu Members are required to register for a launchpad account... Follow the logic of that so far?
Are you saying that the voting is "only" to Members who have set up their @ubuntu.com account as a perk? See where that would exclude some Members? Taking that with twisted sense of humor, though is true.
I will pass the information on to the other Members at the Forum.
So I did that... But still have not received anything yet. He says that we have about another week to vote. That if anyone lese here has a problem, to get ahold of him via that link that Bashing-Om posted, or he gave me some alternate methods...
Still no email to vote. Time is ticking away for this to be too late.
The poll closes on 2024-01-08, which I interpret as meaning that we have nearly a fortnight still. Hopefully that's enough time to get this sorted out.
I will admit that I'm not familiar with any of the candidates; I've not quite resorted to throwing darts at the list, but it's close...
Seen the results posted. https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/new-ubuntu-loco-council/41515 Were the number of voters really that low? Only 76 voted out of 548. Maybe 400+ ran into the same issues as those posted about here.
I voted, but don't remember how I voted.
Let's see how tyrannical they get.
