New Laptop Distro

It sounds as if Suse and Ubuntu are the better (or best) distros for detecting everything in a laptop.

I'm looking at getting a laptop in the next few months and am currently looking at a Lenovo. I want to install a Linux on it (dual-boot with Windows).

Does anybody have an expereriences and/or recommendations about one distro or the other for a laptop? What features work / do not work either out-of-the-box or with a little monkey-ing around?

I haven't compared the two, but I found Ubuntu to work pretty well on an "old" (3 years) Dell laptop. Only the power management (can hibernate but not suspend properly) is a bit dicey, which I assume is due to the age of the machine.

The Thinkpad T60p seems like a good bet.

That's quite a bargain. You only end up paying $1,270 more for a copy of Suse Sled 10. :rolleyes:
