Intel Mac specific version of Ubuntu

Is there a possibilty of an Intel Mac specific version of Ubuntu? The macintels have their own quirks when it comes to the hardware they use, particularly when it comes to things like wireless drivers, and EFI firmware to make a macintel port worthwhile.

Intel Macs are selling in their millions, and repeatedley on this forum there are people asking for help on installation of Ubuntu on these systems using the x86 PC edition. With a Macintel port of Ubuntu complete with a tailoured installation process, this would eliminate many of these basic (but still frustrating) problems.

What do you guys think?

A different version wouldn't be necessary, they'd just would need to make it work in the regular distribution.

I think the x86 installation is pretty much there. I had no problems. A clear, concise, official and updated 'HowTo' for single, dual and triple boot setups is all that's needed (there are plenty out there already, the confusion lies in finding the latest/greatest one).

Most of the preliminary work has to be done in OSX anyway (Bootcamp and rEFIt). The only complication in the Edgy install is installing rEFIt.deb and synchronising the different boot tables, and I understand this is automatic in Feisty.

The harware issues are not spefic to macs anymore as all the internal kit is now pretty much common with PCs
