One of your members (boredandblogging) made a post to the Ohio Team's forum asking about ideas for a logo. I'm the designer/art guy from that team, and I made a few idea logos for you guys. Have a look, and make some comments. Be critical, too. Tell me the good and the bad. I have also attached the SVG files that can be scaled to any size imaginable. Of those my favorite is the second one.

How do other feel about these logos?

I like the second one, too. Maybe if peach and logo were shrunk a little to fit inside the state borders but still be centered and overlayed.

By the by, is that what our flag looks like now?!? :shock: I really actively tried to stay out of any discussion or decision about that flag, so I missed what the final look was. I guess I could have looked at any of the number of gov't buildings that are downtown, oh well.

Def. the second one better. Our flag looks like complete crap, so nothing with it involved.

I'm not part of any team but I do live in Georgia. This really is the best one so far. I agree. Our flag is terrible.

I think any of those could work. :P

Those look good, funkninja52, but sadly they break the logo guidelines :( The Circle of Friends logo can't be edited at all

you mind posting the link to those for revisions? - also where'd you get your's it's different than the one on the website?

I also like the 2nd design. Wish I had it as a sticker to put on my laptop lid.

As cool as those would be, they violate the new logo rules :( I think the rules are dumb, but Canonical won't sponsor you if you don't follow them.

rab313, the ubuntu logo can't be on anything.

Also, people don't want the flag.

Here's 3 of the logos i've played with. The last 2 are various stamp like logos we could consider using.

All of the files are in svg format also, so we can easily scale them at will.

I really like the font you used for "Georgia." Oddly enough, my favorite font happens to be "Georgia." It just does numbers so pretty like... ~swoon~

That's amusing because in the first draft I was using the Georgia font, I figured it would be slightly humorous to do so! Sadly, it looked quite different than this one, and it didn't fit right.

However this design is quite different, I wonder if it would work now...

Hey ClinicalMistake, We were discussing logos at this weeks meeting and we will probably put up a vote in the forum soon. The first three on your most recent post with logos were nominated. However we we concerned with the middle two because of "Additional text may not be added in such a way that it appears to be part of the logo itself." in the Trademark policy http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy . Do you think the ubuntu logo could be moved out the "Georgia" and into the lower left or something to that effect?

I'll see if I can't contact the official reps and get thier opinion on the matter.

Looks like the NY Team and the FL Team both have logos similar to the 4th one that CM did, just the state and the Ubuntu logo/symbol. The NY team's looks good, they added NY and LoCo to the state outline and the Ubuntu logo:

Those logos may be good then. It was brought to my attention and I wanted to check on it. Let us know what you find out.
