MacBook: mouse and keyboard problems

Hi there! I own a MacBook 13,3" Intel Core Duo 2 GHz. I tried to install Ubuntu Edgy following the howto, but I have some annoying problems:

• The installer doesn't get loaded unless I give this switch "noapic" ;
• When Gnome is loaded (both during the live session and the installed one) mouse and keyboard are awfully slow. If I type something, I can go have a coffee before I can see the character apper on the screen. If I move the mouse, the cursor moves after a very long time.

Is anybody experiencing similar issues? Is there a solution?

Hi, Scorpio2002. I have the same laptop, and the same problem you describe. But I use Ubuntu 6.06. I gave up trying to figure out where the problem was, and have ignored that problem for six months; but there are days in which the problem is worse and recently there are even times when the keyboard and mouse buttons stop working, while I can still move the cursor; the applications get all stuck and I cannot even login from a remote computer, but the desktop buttons still get highlighted when I move the cursor over them. The only choice I have is to shut the power down and then it restarts and works OK for some time.

Have you tried the alternate installer CDs? Also, which architecture are you guys using for an installer (i386 or 64-bit)?
