Who are the members of the unanswered post team?

Hi all,

I thought it could be a nice idea to find out who the members of the team is. So, how about (if those of us that wants to) present ourselves in this thread (with as much or as little information as we'd like to share)? Who knows, some of us might practically be living next door to each other.

My name is Magnus and live in Stockholm, Sweden, where I work as an evil bureaucrat. When not enforcing arcane red-tape rules on poor bastards who don't understand them I spend my time on my family and my computers (all running on Linux, but of course). I'm also an avid blues-fan, hence the nick. I have been known to be an ironic, which should really be kept in mind when reading what I post (for example, I'm not really evil, I'm a good guy who just happens to follow orders).

I've been using Linux for little more than a year now. I started off with a C-64 (if you remember those), went on to Amiga, and then had a mac for about two weeks before going with PC. Used Win3.11, Win95, Win2000 and Windows XP. As the configurability got lesser and lesser (and what happened to DOS?), I got more and more frustrated, not to mention that the instability of the system bugged me. After I very succesfully switched my server to Ubuntu I followed suit with my laptop. Very soon after that I ended up on this forum, which has been an excellent source of information and help. I thought the unaswered post team might be a good way to learn some more, get to know people on the forum, and help out fellow ubuntu-users.

It home, I got a server running on Dapper and a desktop running on 64-bit Ubuntu Dapper. I also have a (somewhat old) laptop running on Debian Etch with Fluxbox (just for learning Debian, which is also very cool)

Ok then. I live and work in Far North Queensland. My degree is from the UK (as am I) in CS, but for reasons I haven't decided on, in my hurry to sort visas, I agreed to keep being a builder for a while! I am returning to the UK for a couple years next January, and will take some certifications now visas aren't a problem, then hopefully when I get back aim for an air conditioned way to earn money!

I have been using Linux off and on...more off than on, since '98. But full time since 2005. Distro wise I like Ubuntu, but the attraction for me is the community. It has to be the most respectful out there, and that can only be good. I do the firefox extension which is used by a few (any javascript gurus here, give me a shout if you have any time free), and generally try and help out where I can.

Hey, I'm Jacob Peddicord. I live in Ohio, and I'm a member of our Ohio LoCo team.

I'm a student/programmer. I usually work with websites, however I do write the occasional desktop program now and then. I started out with Linux about 4 years ago working with servers. Being the kind of person who likes to break things, I wanted to try out Linux on the desktop. I tried SuSE 10 initially for about three months, then went on to Ubuntu. Ever since then, I have never switched back. I'm currently running Feisty.

In the future, I plan on getting some programs into Universe once I get around to writing them. Who knows, I might even apply for membership sometime.

I am Anthony Jones (AJ for short). I am 21 and work as a IT Techie. I have been into Linux for just over a year and tried several different distros and found Ubuntu to just work. I help spread Ubuntu by recommending it to friends and family.

I have a few servers running 6.06, one is web server and one is proxy server with ldap (A/D) authentication.

I am currently developing my php/mysql abilities and looking to start learning c.

I am surgically attached to a computer and enjoy helping people (also i am the only techie guy in the family....... grrrrrr , didnt even get xmas day off cause of my aunt). I see participation in Ubuntu forums as a way to increase my knowledge and help others.

Also although English is my first language , I can not spell to save my life. SO please excuse and spelling errors.

My name is Daniel. Linux experience= 1.1 years Distro's that I have ran are mostly Ubuntu Dapper and Edgy (xubuntu as well) also have played with Puppy, DSL, and Knoppix. I noticed that Gparted livecd stated Gentoo so can I consider that one? :-) I am very new to the linux scene but have been working on computers for over 10 years and have built plenty of them with the help of newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, and mwave.com. I also love finding old computers and reviving them with Linux to learn more about it and how it interacts with various hardware. My latest is a IBM TP 365CSE, it has a 486 50mhz processor, 20MB RAM and a 340mb hdd. I just got a PCMCIA ethernet card so I am about to install Puppy or DSL on it. I can't wait to try. I enjoy helping others and know exactly how a newbie feels when they want to try it out but have no idea what to do to get it working and that's why I joined the team.

Hi, my name's Steve and I'm an Ubuntuholic.

I live near Chesterfield in the UK and I am currently finishing an MSc in computer networks. So basically I'm the guy everyone asks to fix their broadband, wifi etc.

I tend to help out mostly in the Networking and Wireless sub-forum, though I also foray into Hardware & Laptops, Installation & Upgrades and Newbie sub-forums on occasion as well.

My first experience of this forum was of friendly users who were only too happy to help out the newbies and I hope to see this continue as the forum grows. So I would like to applaud the founders of this team for taking on such an ambitious task. The rate of new threads seems to be increasing every day and with Feisty recently out of the door the forum has been moving so fast it's going to take a lot of effort to keep up.

Thanks for accepting my request to join the Unanswered Posts Team! I just thought I would introduce myself briefly;

My real name is Luke, I'm 34 and live in West Yorkshire, England. I've been using Linux since Slackware 8.1 (don't ask me to remember the year!) and Ubuntu for over a year now. I've been building my own computers for over ten years now, and spent some time working in a computer recycling centre. Professionally I am unfortunate enough to work solely with Windows XP at the local council (where I am referred to as "The Guru"!), but I manage to get some *NIX love with a Cygwin install on my USB stick.

I have recently got a new job (still with the Council, but more money/more work) so I can't devote as much time on the forums as I used to, but I am still pretty sure I can put in at least a couple of hours every day.

I wouldn't say I was an expert in any particular field, but a "jack of all trades" if you like! I look forward to being a member of the team and helping out where I can. Once I work out how many hours behind UTC is, I hope to be in the meeting on Sunday.

Well we have 16 members listed here, and 40 in the forum team list, but only seven seem to be active in the UA Tracker. Is everyone aware of the Tracker? Can we send out an email to everyone in the team to let them know about it?

Hi all!

I'm a 24 year old Neuroscience Ph.D student (trying to evade the 'real' world for as long as I can...) from Canada. I switched from Windows to Linux on a whim with Ubuntu Warty and have loved every *nix minute since.

It sucks, but I'm pretty much only knowledgeable on the *nix things that are pertinent to me (sorry!). Specifically:

-kernel compilation -notebooks (power management, wireless--WPA_supplicant, wifi-radar, network manager-- general driver installation & network setup, not with ndiswrapper [sorry], nvidia, governors, acpi, touchpad) -general compilation issues (including individual drivers, either compiled against kernel source or not) -digital audio recording -message digests -guitar-related *nix apps -xorg config -grub (not that good with exotic, multiple drives though) -general science app related stuff -general sys admin stuff (security, init scripts, package management, day-to-day user admin, etc...)

So if there are any question relating to the above that are lingering, please let me know to see if I can help.

Things I know absolutely nothing about:

-RAID setups -WUBI -automatix -Wine -ATI

• A lot more!

I'm hoping to get to know everyone on the team and help out as much as I can. I've got a bit of a confession to make though: I've switched to Arch recently (but keep up on Ubuntu development/news/changes). I hope to install Ubuntu again soon, but have kinda fallen for a rolling release as of late. The community has kept me here though :)

You can get a user account/password from the site maintainers (probably the easiest way is to swing by #ubuntuforums-unanswered) and then all you do is add a post you've answered to the site and it tracks all our efforts. A big thanks to kidders is due, its mostly his hard work.

im a cs major from pitt. i started programming when i was young with my c64. i have actually bought new hardware in order for better ubuntu compatability (wireless cards, webcam, etc).

I'm a Linux n00b (using Linux and Ubuntu since May 13th) from the Caribbean. I'm just an average user, no programming; I took a C course when I was in college back in the 80's but I forgot all that stuff. I'm married with children.
