Ok, Here is the deal... I have been trying, and trying... and begging for Beryl to work... I have used three different guides... and an auto install script I found on the beryl project forums... NONE of them seem to be helping me.

I am running the fglrx drivers with an ATI Radeon 9200 SE

The errors I am getting when starting Beryl in a XGL session is this

**************************************************************

**************************************************************

  • Beryl system compatiblity check *

Detected xserver : XGL

Checking Display localhost:1.0 ...

Checking for XComposite extension : passed (v0.3) Checking for XDamage extension : passed Checking for RandR extension : passed Checking for XSync extension : passed

My xorg file is set up like this

/etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)

values from the debconf database.

Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.

(Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)

This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*

if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg

package.

Is anyone able to help? I am running Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy

Automatix Bleeder worked for me! So... just get the Bleeder for Edgy Eft and install Beryl from there. You will get a clean installation that works.

I now have a problem cause there is no Bleeder for Feisty yet and my Beryl installation is not working anymore :((

You don't need XGL, the radeon 9200 should perform better with the open source driver and is easier to setup.
