xorg.conf missing

So, i was installing beryl, and i opened up the xorg.conf file, pasted the code in the screen section and saved. Then, I opened it again. .. this time for triplebuffer. Now, the xorg.conf file is blank. What do i do?

So, what I've done is

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Add to screen section >

Enable 32-bit ARGB GLX Visuals

Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

If you are using an older version of compiz that

does not support rendering into the Composite

Overlay Window, you will need to disable clipping

of GLX rendering to the X Root window with this

option, or you will get a blank screen after

starting compiz:

Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "True"

It looks like you just made a type somewhere. Try looking for the file in the Nautilus file browser.

So, I figure out my problem. I typed x11 instead of X11

But, now I have another one.. I log in, alt + f2 type beryl manager and my screen turns green and a bit of purple and weird and unreadable. Help?

Did you set your screen depth default (Section "Screen") to 24 in xorg.conf?

no, i didn't although i probably did do something wrong with it

I tried changing it to 24, didn't change anything.

It might be helpful if i could see someone's properly configured xorg.conf file for beryl.

Btw, I'm running nvidia on a hp dv8000t w/ an intel processor.

because chances are i'm doing something stupid.

Change your default depth to 24.

EDIT. You were right, i needed to change it to 24, ctrl alt backspace, then login and use beryl manager.

You should also remove triplebuffer and the DisableGLXRootClipping lines IMO.
