Tips for installing Edgy via Parallels?

I just downloaded a trial of Parallels (3188 ), and I was wondering what the best way was to install Edgy. Should I use the live or the alternate cd, or the iso? Is the install pretty straightforward with no curveballs? If I am online in OS X, does that mean Edgy will be also?

XP is running fine. I wanted to give Parallels a shot after I got a few BSODs with Boot Camp.

either. you don't have to burn the iso files as they can be mounted as a drive in the parallels configuration. (It is actually much faster that way). When you start the virtual machine it should boot up the cd just like a normal computer and you can install as usual.

Are there any MacTel specific drivers that I'm going to need in Parallels? Will the resolution and other hardware work fine?

parallels emulates pretty standard hardware. there is nothing mac specific.

Will the resolution be fine? Oh well, I'll just go ahead and make the VM from the iso in the morning.

BTW, I don't have the money to actually purchase Parallels. Do the VMs and their disk space disappear when I uninstall Parallels?

you have to delete them, but yes.

Wow, Q looks nice (I appreciate freedom as in price greatly). Has it proved to be useful and stable?

I have never used Q... but I have used Qemu. Both projects are open source...

Q is a graphical front end for Qemu - They are both the same, execpt Q is as easy to use as any Mac program and Qemu is.. well, I never quite got my head round it!!

As far as doing Edgy in parallels, I downloaded the ISO and you can edit your virtual machine and set the CD / DVD Drive to point at an image, and then browse to the Edgy ISO you just downloaded.

I think you need to go for the standard i386 ISO file, not the Power PC / Apple Mac one as I believe parallels emulates x86 architecture ???
