Zyrshnikashnu said: Doesn't Toronto have a team?

It does, he probably just saw this on the "newest posts" and replied without seeing that it's NY-loco. I've done that before too. oops

Though, it made me think... what if someone lived right on the border with Canada, and there was a NY event in Buffalo. Wouldn't we want to outreach to those kinds of people? Or if there was an event in NYC, would we want to advertise it to the north jersey people? Because, should loco be confined by borders, or should it be based on proximity?

edit: there used to be a ferry that ran from Toronto to Rochester in like 45 minutes. That would have made for great relations between the NY and Toronto teams

No it well... you in school up there?

I read your other post about an install fest first and asked you where you were from... I will see if we have any members up near Potsdam and then try to assist you to plan an install fest.

#93

Greenwood, Indiana

#94

Victoria, Australia

Although I'm still confused as to why 90% of Australians think that every social gathering needs at least 40 litres of alcohol for it to be a party?

#95

No it well... you in school up there?Did you go to school up here or something? Have you been to Potsdam before?

PrivateVoid, I live up here. I currently am working for a living, not in IT unfortunately. I do plan on going back to school soon to get a degree in computer science.

Cheers!

OK... cool. That helps to know if you were affiliated with the college. I will tray to get some information tonight on if we have any other members that live up there. We have a bunch of members in Jefferson County -- would you be willing to travel there?

#97

I was really trying to keep this just centralized in Potsdam. The reason is that we have 4 colleges within 10 minutes of each other, and right now my work schedule is as such that I don't have a lot of time to travel. I work midnights so it is hard to get out and travel.

Cheers!

OK... well we do not have any registered members up there... so lets work on helping you build some interest up there; you willing to be the 'founder' of the Potsdam group? Have you joined the state team?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I would love to be a founder of a 'Potsdam' group. That was one of my hopes with setting up a install fest. I could see who is around that enjoys linux, and other that are interested but haven't taken the first step or are confussed about the whole thing.

I have become a member of the State team. You can take a look at my stuff here if you need to. Lets see what we can get going up in my area, I have a couple of contact that I can get in touch with this week to see what I can procure in terms of space and resource.

I look forward to really getting this underway.

Cheers!

#105

Potsdam, NY I thought I was alone really, figured no one would use ubuntu up here, although it makes sense since clarkson has a server.

Hello daradib, I mis-spent my youth in Grandview, and allegedly graduated from Tappan Zee high school.

#121

Staten Island. I'd like to help set up an installfest in Staten Island for Autumn 2012 if possible.

Anyway, after recently seeing "Revolution OS", it inspired me to do something to give back to the community. Although the movie is now 10 years old, I never really knew it was out there.

I really enjoyed the scene where people brought their BIG desktop computers or even small laptops (Toshiba Libretto) and were getting help installing Linux at an install fest.

Let's get Staten Island to wake up a bit and start saving $$ on them M$ Licensing costs - who'd like to work with me on getting the movement going ??

Welcome Adam.

What kind of help are you looking for? Have you registered on the mailing list? Joined the team on Launchpad (this will let you schedule events on loco.ubuntu.com)?
