The question in the thread title should ask it all.
Personally, I'll compile every one unless its something that throws errors I can't correct in the configure/make process, then its time for slackbuilds or pre-compiled official releases.
How many of your packages do you self compile?

Well, I compile most of my packages, maybe because I set
export CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
in my .bashrc file :) , and the fact that I got used to it. Official packages... only when I can't get it to work or it takes to much time to compile.
nope none yet,just learning to drive zenwalk so at the moment i use netpkg to install , i intend to keep zenwalk simple as i use it to browse the net mostly,so i just want it to stay speedy and functional for that purpose
I mostly just install whatever i want to try (In (X)Ubuntu etc) but now and again i'll compile if i can't find what i'm after in the repos. Fluxbox for example (& OpenBox) i've just compiled the latest release.... works great!
On Zenwalk though (Which i've just come back to after a year out) i won't compile anything just yet....... far too intimidating at the moment! Maybe in a few months when i feel a bit more comfortable, but for now, i'll stick with Netpkg & Gslapt etc. :)
