New Ubuntu Community e-magazine

Came across this today. Not sure how many are aware of the fact the Ubuntu community now has their own published e-magazine. =D> The Premier edition was posted for download April 17, 2007.

Also, they have two translated versions, one for Russian and one for Spanish, available for download on the bottom of the download page.

One quick thought on this.

Wonder if we can use this as part of our advertising/marketing approach for promoting our team. Not sure if the -e-magazine will be taking ads or posting LoCo information. But, may be worth looking into.

If not, then maybe we can get someone in the group, or several, to write an article or two, and have them submitted for publishing. At least in this manner, we could get the word out via a bio line or something along those lines.

That is a very interesting idea. There are some questions that should be answered first:

I think this is a nice idea and should be considered. It might be best, however, if we get this team and our initial projects established first before committing to something such as this. If we do go through with this, I would like to participate in it.

• Where will it be published?

This is already a reality. If you look at the links above, the e-magazine is already available; published for and by the Ubuntu Community. It is targeted specifically at the Ubuntu Linux Community, but made available to anyone who wishes to download and read it.

Since I am part of the Membership sub-team, guess my intentions were two fold:

1. Let everyone know we, the Ubuntu Community, now have our own published e-magazine.
2. Begin a dialog to discuss how we, the Ubuntu-Arizona Team, could use this new publication to assist in marketing our LoCo.

Maybe this needs to be discussed just within the Membership sub-team. Then once we have some answers, we could present it to the Team as a whole. Or, maybe this needs to be placed on the meeting agenda, for our next meeting, so we can openly discuss if we want to persue using this potentially new marketing media.

Yep, and the first magazine was quite excellent; although there was not much there, just pretty much a review of Feisty (that had not quite yet come out). They're desperate for articles, though, so if there is anyone interested in writing something, I suspect they'd take it for issue 1 (the one they put out was issue 0). That could, of course, include something about Arizona having a LoCo team --- might help recruit folks in Arizona that don't know about us already. The Feisty preview issue might also be a reasonably good marketing tool, perhaps with a change to indicate it already exists :)

Anyway, yeah. Good stuff.

Agreed, issue 0 was definetly a little lean in material. But, it has to start some place. Do we want to wait and discuss this during a meeting, or take it off line and talk amoungst the Membership team first and then present it to the Team as a whole?

If we decide to take it off line, we can still leave this thread going for Team thoughts and ideas.

I'd say Membership should discuss it as is, here, along with any forum contributors, until Sunday; we can give a brief status report at the meeting on the 6th as part of our general speech. It'll stay mostly within Membership, though. Don't want to bloat up the overall team meetings.
