Dreamweaver equivalent

I am sure this has been addressed again and again, so I apologize if I am rehashing an old topic. But here goes anyway:

I have been building websites using Dreamweaver for years. Currently using Dreamweaver 8 on the Windows platform. I did some research about 10 months ago and was not able to find an open source HTML editor that even came close. Considering the progress of OpenOffice and The Gimp (and other titles) I find this surprising.

So--am I out in left field somewhere? Is there a really solid web development program that I am not aware of? A wysiwyg editor that has CSS code built it, drag-and-drop capabilities, flash, and all the great features of Dreamweaver?

If so--please provide a link so I can check it out.

NVU is not to bad but like yourself I have been using Dreamweaver MX2004 and then version 8 but have only found NVU but its still not a patch on Dreamweaver, just wish they could do a Linux version then my Windows days would be over

Yeah--I have been searching through the forums for similar threads. It seems that there is not really a suitable alternative at this point. Bummer, huh?

I am not a programmer and therefore I am not the guy to make a new program. Perhaps in the future the guys who do that sort of thing will have it all worked out.

Its a KDE app, but many people have mentioned Quanta plus to me, I have had a brief look and it seems ok, but havent really looked closely. Maybe it is worth a look?

Sadly I cannot reccomend ANY linux alternatives to dreamweaver, as none of them do the job like DW8 does

HOWEVER

DW8 DOES run extremely well under crossover or wine, and if you have it already installed on the windows platform, you can easily migrate across.

i use it myself as I'm now solely linux (sometimes painfully for reasons like this) and it works wonderful...

I was able to install DW MX in Crossover. But when I go to save a file it has a y:\ directory in Site manager. I can't save any file to it. Why?

I'd rather in DW8 but Crossover 6.0.1 says it only take MX.
