Beryl white screen issue

a few days ago I made the switch from Windows to Ubuntu and I already love it!

but, I am having a bit of a problem with Beryl. I am getting a white screen whenever I load beryl. I have tried the fixes I saw in other threadsbut, they don't seem to work

here are my specs

AMD 64 1012MB ram ATI XPRESS 200

please please please help me out and be as specific as you can. pretend I am an old woman learning to play FInal Fantasy

I just had this problem when I tried to load Beryl without turning on xgl. You have to have the right drivers and from what i can tell that can be more difficult for beryl.
