Hey All,
I recently swapped my windowsXP operating system for Ubuntu linux.
I now do not have an internet connection on my laptop (i'm using an IT computer).
I want to be able to play some of the avis and mp3s i have on my external HDD.
I am having trouble installing VLC media player (or similar) and the codecs for totem.
I have tried the terminal code soyo (or however it went). It isn't in synaptic, so i don't think that works anyway.
I have vlc (tar), xmms (tar), songbird (tar) but can't turn them into packages and can't install them.
