Jargon

I like the idea of the Beginners Team very much. I would find it very helpful if the Guide the Team is preparing could be very heavily annotated with hyperlinks to explanations of the vast new vocabulary we need to master to come to grips with Linux and Ubuntu. I do appreciate the need for such technical language and we are keen to learn, but we need explanations of what we will soon be able to take for granted. For example, the initials PM appear on one piece in the Beginners Team thread. What is this? It would be very helpful if a small explanation popped up on my screen as I pass my cursor over the letters. Only those who want the explanation would need to spend time looking at it. Those who are already in the know could pass on quickly to the rest of the stuff. Best wishes Bill

Yea, I know what your mean. Every field/hobby has it's jargon.

FYI PM = Personal Message is send a personal message on the Ubuntu Forums.

Its the hardest thing with linux. Sure you RTFM as they say... but you get stuck at all the assumptions that the guide writers make about their audience abilities.

It's be pieces inbetween that Beginners want the most.
