Dell Inspiron 700M Wi-Fi light indicator won't turn on.

this might be a little off topic but i was wondering if it's possible to make my Dell 700M wi-fi light indicator to work. hardware works fine but the light indicator is off even when the card it operational. i got intel pro/wireless 2200G build in into this laptop and i am running ubuntu 7.04. i would appreciate any suggestions. p.s. i recently switched from windows xp and the light indicator on the screen was functioning.
