I'm totally enthused about Dell shipping machines with Ubuntu. There is only one thing that's keeping me from ordering... I need to be able to run ALSA and JACK on this machine (I'm looking at the XPS 410N).

The sound card is specified as "integrated 7.1"... which I take to mean at least three stereo outputs on a motherboard integrated card. Are all these outputs recognized by ALSA/JACK? Will real time audio processing work (assuming I install the appropriate kernel)?

If anyone has tried this, or if Dell has given an official word on the matter and I missed it, I'd really appreciate it if someone clued me in. If not, just knowing what to look up in the ALSA compatibility matrix would be helpful.

You can always install the jack packages, so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
