I've just got a new Dell with Vista, before I knew I could get them with Ubuntu already. Anyways, when I used it for Vista, the fan on the processors heatsink would be loud during boot-up, then silent after logging on to Vista. On Ubuntu however, the fan stays "On" or at the higher speed. Can i adjust it to turn it down just a bit?

Never mind guys, Following a install guide for my Nvidia 8600 actually fixed this AND my 3d rendering. Cool deal.
