I love your logos - what software did you use?
have given it a go for Wales: http://ubuntucymraeg.nireblog.com/post/2007/06/21/logo-ubuntu-cymru
Diolch!
here's a few I made

Thanks,
I used Google Sketchup which is free, and awesome! Do you guys think it'd look better if I added some of the larger lakes and islands?
Mean-Machine: I like your logos, the shamrock works really well!
bonglord: thanks, the shamrock one is definitely my favourite one. I like your 3D logos, nice work.
If you want to make the shamrock one in 3D as well just let me know, I'll send you the .svg file.
All the Best!
Mean-Machine
Sure, no worries. Send the file and I'll get to work on it.
All the best,
bonglord said: Do you guys think it'd look better if I added some of the larger lakes and islands?
Personally, no. In many ways, I think the less detail in a logo the better, as it looks better when scaled down (in an .ico on a website, for example).
and
The fullsize versions can be found here.
I think the Shamrock looks better, as AndrewMc says, the simpler the better!
All the best,
bonglord: great job! I love the Shamrock 3D logo.
I don't know about the colour of the shamrock, though. I'd prefer darker green.
It would be great if you could change it, just to see the difference.
Thanks.
Sure no worries, what shade of green did you have in mind? RGB Hex would be the handiest.
All the best, bonglord
I mean the same colour as the Ubuntu Logo...
same as here

Actually, I think I like the last ones, with the original Ubuntu colours and the word Ireland attached. I'd like to suggest two changes, if I may. First, the green, white and orange layers are just a small bit too far apart, could the white and orange be brought closer to the green? It's a little hard to read, particularly where the letters overlap. The other change is a nit-pick on the shades of green and orange, although this mightn't work so well. The official flag colours are Pantone 347 (green) and 151 (orange), which apparently corresponds to #00f723 and #ff850d. The orange is similar, but the Green is much brighter and "greener" :) I'm not sure how good the green would look, though.
@AndrewMc
I made some changes: white and orange brought closer to the green; official flag colours + different green

Very nice!
Why thankyou.
Enjoy! lol
That looks really awesome Mr Sandwich, good work! I like the glass effect and the lighting :KS
Thanks. :)
Fair play to all your contributions. there is some real quality in some of the logos.
Yes but the overall design has to be portability and it has to be approved by ubuntu council.
I mean we've been spending time at this for months, let's just pick a simple 2-D design and move on already ...
here are two logos I made up tonight
I kept them at 192 in pixel width so it fits nicely into the launchpad mugshot for Ubuntu Ireland team at http://launchpad.net/~ubie
(its not up yet, people have to decide)
We can make larger banner ones for the new website.
here is an example of one at my launchpad page
-> https://launchpad.net/~derrymurray
as you can see it keeps the format of other groups around the world such as
ubuntu-uk, ubuntu-fr, ubuntu-br, ubunut-es etc..
let me know what you think , they aren't too fancy, just keeping them simple.
also i have attached another one that just says
Ubuntu with ireland underneath
thanks
here is another one at 16 pixels to show ubie mini-icon on launchpad page for ex. https://launchpad.net/~ubie go down to icon
and replace it with the one attached as people did not like the original. (me included)
thanks
ok one more,
maybe a banner for the new website, let me know what you think please.
thanks
I like this one

I do too Mean Machine, its my fav
liamo on irc also likes this one
any others? please let us know.
OK peeps, things are moving ahead really fast. Lots of discussion on IRC
we basically have 3 main icons now
First icon is the 192 pixel one to fill the team mugshot on https://launchpad.net/~ubie or on one's user pages if they like.
The other is a website banner should the website peeps want to use it, its basically the same as the 192 pixel one but larger and at 481 x 125
Peeps can also use one for the Team Logo on their launchpad page
(ubie_64_64.png)
all icons are released under http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
thanks
UPDATE new reformatted logos now attached.
If people want to use the Irish Ubuntu logo for their forum avatar
they can use this one ubie_90_90.png as below
Very Good! Keep up the good work tck!
are we going to use the logos from tck last 2 posts so? seems to change everytime i look at this thread lol
yeah lol.. at least someone noticed :)
the ones on the wiki now are the finalised ones, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IrishTeam
thanks to all that helped out and especially Mean Machine colour logo :)
I was wondering...
Is there a way to put up this logo https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IrishTeam?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=ubie_481_125.png on the Ireland Team forum? Between "Unanswerde Posts" and "Make New Post"?
Does anyone know?
I tired, no real way from the options.
My first Ubuntu Ireland Wallpapers are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IrishTeam in Artwork section.
Hope you'll like them :-k
Edit: tck, could you change the toppic to "Artwork"...?
Nice backgrounds! First one reminds me of the matrix and the second reminds of the house on haunted hill.. no idea why :)
Thanks for the feedback, Azrayal.
here's one more for the craic

I like the hazy effect over the Ubuntu logo in the second one. I'm not so sure if I like the writing in it. I think it might look better plain?
and what do ye think about this one?

Just doodling in Inkscape...
Rather than shamrock, a harp would be nice. The shamrock might be the symbol of st. patrick's day but it isn't the symbol of Ireland. ;)
Yeah something with a harp would be cool. I like the Irish Free Software Organisation harp & gnu logo. It's very clean. Might be able to poke it.
what do you think?
