Show off your desktop - Summer edition

Just felt like showing off my sleek new desktop after starting over with Kubuntu and the new Compiz Fusion project.

Using Compiz Fusion and Emerald Wallpaper: - click - Dock: Avant Window Navigator

That's real nice, love the reflection. I can't have any of that fancy graphics stuff on my laptop as i have an ATI card, won't play nice :(

Does GNOME have the ability to do something like this too? I would love to be able to specify a folder with images and then have my wallpaper change on a schedule (reboots, logins, 10 minutes, etc). I think that I have seen an app that is supposed to be able to do it but I would really like to know if vanilla GNOME can.

I saw a howto for it once. I'll do some digging and If I can find it I'll post it. Edit: Found it. Feisty Guide Not exactly a Gnome native feature, but supposedly this works.

How do you guys get the high res pics posted? The forum uploader stops at 976.6kb, and most of the picture hosting sites I've tried always shrink the pics when they are uploaded. Can someone take me to school?

I took my screenshots and sized them down in gimp just enough to save them under the file size limit.

I used the scale function with gimp and mine was pretty fuzzy by the time I got it sized. Your pic wasn't fuzzy when it loaded. Maybe there is a better way? I have never really used gimp. Probably just don't know how to do it.

In GIMP, try doing File>Save As... choose ".png" as the file extension and press save.. a png properties box should then popup. Make sure that compression level is set to maximum, which is 9 I believe. I'm not a GIMP master either.. I'm more of a photoshop guy myself. ;)
