i would love to see easy configuration of system settings for ubuntu like suse has but i don't want ubuntu to be bloated like suse. so some questions have you tried it, is it stable enough to trust on a daily basis and does it bog the system down.

It works nice but it is for Testing Purposes only at the actuall state.
Ubuntu doesn't need any sort of Yast. I like the various control panels that Ubuntu uses and it's the main reaosn I moved away using SuSE. Even in SuSE, Yast has to many little bugs that detract from the idea of it, which is very good.

There is no need for Synaptic, no need for Webmin etc. etc. etc ....
Sorry but this is no Argument. Who doesn´t want it should not install it. ;)

BTW - Yast4Debian is at a higher Quality as the one for SUSE.
It works nice but it is for Testing Purposes only at the actuall state. yeah i saw that after reading a little more, I'm going to give it a try though thanks for the link, but since its still an alpha project i don't think they will add it to the repos, maybe once it makes it to a stable release they might add it to the development version of ubuntu, i think they wont backport anything unless it's in the development or stable version of ubuntu though.

That´s the Reason to give it to the Backports ! ;)

They should have a look to Gentoo and they would see that a rule like "the backports limited to -already- Breezy software !" cant be the right Way. ;)

off-topic: So wish I had enough time and computer to install Gentoo.. It´s worth a look - but i prefeer to have the goodies of Gentoo at Ubuntu because of the Usability. ,)

bravo I simply think this Forum is for requests - if there was no unpossibility or technical risk to Port them to Ubuntu there is no need for me to Discuss it.
Please SEARCH before posting. Yast and Backports have been brought up together many times in the past.
