i've played with themes andicons in xp and it's much easier to do in linux in general as well as free. take a look at gnome-look.org and then install them in system > preferences > themes.
Thanks i will try again.
How and were can i download launchpad and widgets to make ubuntu a little more flashy?:)
gdesklets and adesklets are widget type apps similar to mac.
I'm still learning. thaks alot for your help
Before you go installing all these widgets, make sure you got the latest gfx drivers, as some things, like beryl, compiz-fusion require updated gfx drivers to function smoothly. I've never really gotted used to gnome, as I prefer *box type window managers.
