#7

Nice! That deserve a news entry. So, is it whole game that goes Open?

Yep, this is whole game. The base sources was downloaded from http://www.viewizard.com/download.php?forceos=source and putted into svn. So for now OpenAstroMenace - is the same sources as I use for AstroMenace version 1.2 compilation. I just propose to title it as OpenAstroMenace, but not AstroMenace or AstroMenace II, to avoid misunderstanding in future.

Just built a deb package, you can install it from my repo see : http://rzr.online.fr/q/openal

Yes, that guide also work for 32-bit. It's not all 64-bit guides that work for 32-bit, but this one does.

https://launchpad.net/~rzr-team/+archive/ppa

USe the link above to find a ppa (personal package archive) which contains astromenace compiled for jaunty. You can add the sources to your /etc/apt/sources.list file and add the key by following links, I then drag and drop the text of the key (including -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- and END...) to my desktop and add it through system:admin:software sources.

Hope that helps.

hey guys!

First I'd like to give kudos to the author of this game...it's completely amazing! Second, I've been having a problem the past few days suddenly the game no longer works. It runs but none of the graphics are there and when I run it in terminal it gives me a long string of files that cannot be found. Tried several times to download the game again and extract the archive but the same thing keeps happening. if anyone knows what's going on i'd apreciate it. I'm somewhat new to ubuntu and the only thing I can think of is to reinstall but since I've tweaked this thing a ton i'd rather not. Thanx in adavance for your time.

Haven't tried anything but the binaries from the Viewizard site, but is anyone else experiencing the sound randomly starting to flutter for a few seconds, then playing OK, then fluttering a little while later?

Sounds like a pulse issue which plenty of people have trouble with in 9.10

You're right, 10.04 works fine as far as audio crackle issues, except it takes a super long time for the loading screen to pass for some reason and failed to output audio over digital optical for some reason even though normal digital worked.

All-in-all a fairly good Linux game attempt but marred by the fact that it's a) increadibly hard even on easy due to lack of money and high expenses for sone thing, which isn't helped by the fact that replaying older missions give you 1/2 the money, so you're penalized even further for not doing well b) a kinda cool concept to have three different flight layers, but seems to mostly only serve to make things confusing and that, combined with the fact that asteroids are black against a dark background, makes level 5 nearly impossible, or impossible to complete well at least.

if anyones having issues getting it installed simply go to the game site

http://www.viewizard.com/download.php

and download the amenace12.tar.bz2, extract it where you want it then open the folder and click the "game_launcher" icon, game will start ;)
