#20

for sure. about the universities, does they still use red hat, or they are newer?

#21

yeah ,people get so complicated with using operating systems here thats why they use windows.we should spread ubuntu here, i am starting to influence some friends

#22

so did i. even my brother has completly removed winxp from his laptop and installed ubuntu.

#23

yeah plus Ubuntu is easy to use..now a days Linx is pretty easy to install and use..back in the days when there was no graphical installer it was a bit hard..

#24

yep it was hard. but now it's so easy and so fast. On my pc , installing ubuntu tooks 10 minutes, installing Xp i think it tooks 1 hour at least

#25

i am very happy and proud to see people like you here and exited for Ubuntu

Cheers

#26

for sure, man. Ubuntu has really changed my life. on xp, i usually open facebook everyday. after installing ubuntu, i open my facebook every two days i think, because, everyday, i check the ubuntuforums. #36

woops..my bad..sorry for the confusion..lol..

#37

i have converted two of my friends to linux completely, Mandriva specifically, and they love it. I chose to install mandriva cause it detected the hardware best on those machines.

#38

did they try ubuntu? by the way, do they have old machines?

#39

did they try ubuntu?

by the way, do they have old machines? one of them was a pentium 3 with 256 MB ram, ubuntu nor Kubuntu, or xubuntu would boot properly on it. Mandriva booted perfectly. the other was a pentium 4 512 MB ram. I just downloaded the iso and had him install it himself.

#40

at least they're using linux.

#41

Mandriva is one of the most friendly distros..and the spring edition is pretty impressive I have got to say..

#42

by the way, R u all guys using the Hardy heron version of ubuntu?

#43

by the way,

R u all guys using the Hardy heron version of ubuntu? nope I use arch linux

#44

by the way,

R u all guys using the Hardy heron version of ubuntu? yes and i use multiple distros..Mandriva,Gentoo and Ubuntu.

#45

aha, good. by the way guys, did anybody try the KDE (kubuntu). i've been told it's slow!

#46

I hate KDE..it has a sh!tty interface in my opinion..GNOME FTW!

#47

Hey Kadrus just discovered this section too:)

#48

Hey Kadrus just discovered this section too

lol..nice to see you on the forums ^_^

#49

Kadrus said: I hate KDE..it has a sh!tty interface in my opinion..GNOME FTW!

I think you should keep such opinions with yourself. KDE is pretty good! Kubuntu does not incorporate it well. But it looks and works good with OpenSUSE, PC Linux OS

#50

It only looks good on OpenSuse..and i said in my opinion..so dont take it personal..

#51

did anybody try about Damn Small Linux :D ?

it's so small only 90 MB

http://www.linux.com/download_linux/

look at all linux OS

#52

yeah I tried it last year..check feather linux and puppy linux too..but there are mini-distros..so no home use, purpose usb...check it at Distrowatch [EDIT]And if i think its only 49mb...could be wrong though.. Iso image

Lebanese Ubuntu user here. So not all the Lebanese folks(except me lol) use Windows I'm assuming? :D

I've been using Ubutu since Hoary, but I did skip a few distros since the July 2006 war for some reason.

heyy reviving back this thread!! i'm also a lebanese linux user and got my brother too. nice to meet you all!!!

#68

Hello all,

Another Lebanese Ubuntu user here.

How's everyone doing?

Cheers.

#69

Hi

Happy to see other people in Lebanon are using Ubuntu.

I have installed Ubuntu along with my Windows Vista a few weeks ago. I am using Karmic 9.10.

Although I like it, and I am encouraging my family to use it, I have some problems, but none that I couldn't solve by browsing support forums.

As an open source enthusiast, I must say that Linux in general needs to become even more easy in the way it handles problems, because opening a terminal and typing a command is a bit too complicated for most casual users.

Nevertheless, I think Ubuntu has great potential and truly rivals the big names out there.

#70

I agree.

Linux in general is all about perseverance.

#71

Lebanese Ubuntu user :)

Libneneh in Canada,

Been using Ubuntu since 7.04 ( Feisty Fawn). I got a job as a network administrator and was introduced to Ubuntu.

How i got this job? Thanks to a Advanced Linux class based on Fedora core :P

From here i was introduced to Ubuntu and just loved it. Using Karmic Koala now and looking forward to Lucid Lynx.

Right now I'm studying in Engineering

Same here :D I just accidentally stumbled on this.

See my signature for details; i do have Win7 & XP but they are rarely run.

Though i've read in one of the threads under Lebanon Team that there's a Lebanese LOCO but there's no official one up to my knowledge; it would be great if we could combine our efforts (in case it really doesn't exist) & form one.
