REWARD for WiFi Help

If you live in the Bloomington, Columbus, Nashville, or even Indianapolis area, I will pay you $100 to get my @#$% wireless card(s) working. I'm fed up with tutorials and how to's; nothing has worked. The computer (a Lenovo 3000 C200) came with a Broadcom 4311 card; I just bought a D-Link DWA-642 PCMIA card. If you can meet up with me and get either one to work, $100 cash right there on the spot.

I live in Bloomington and may be able to help. What kind of chipset does your card have? Run 'lspci' if you do not know.

Disable wireless security on your router when you try to connect. I have been able to connect without WEP/WPA. I have MAC filtering to only allow my laptop. For security you can try: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202834 But I have not managed to get wireless security working.

Oh, and I used WICD.

If you had a wired internet connection, you could probably get someone to help you by VNCing into your computer and configuring the wireless for you...Just make sure you trust them if you go that route.

If you still want to use the broadcom card go here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=197102&highlight=compwiz download the driver listed there. I use it on my dell inspiron laptop when using Kubuntu and the live cd to connecto to the internet, it works great.
