Old versio of proftpd in 7.10?

Why are there no official Ubuntu updates to proftpd? If I'm not mistaken, the default version of proftpd in Ubuntu 7.10 is 1.3.0. And afaik this version has a number of security issues. Perhaps I am missing something, Thanks for any advice.

AFAIK any important upstream security fixes are patched against the current version in Gutsy.
