Where can I keep tabs on Ubuntu Development?

I was wondering where I can go to see what plans are being made for the next release of Ubuntu. Major decisions being made and stuff, like where would I have seen ongoing discussion regarding moving to pulseaudio or switching to brasero for CD writing app or the decision to move to firefix beta 3 in hardy back when hardy was being developed? Is there a central web page where I can see what's going on overall in development of the next release?

I'd like to move from simply waiting every 6 months for releases and being surprised regarding changes to actively monitoring overall development.

The only place I could find that seemed close was this: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/ubuntu-8.10

You want https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-Intrepid which starts in a week.

Let's just hope that Mirco gets his new Facebrowser for GDM finished and it will be a very awesome release even if it doesn't bring anything new besides that. Also: Jackster: Grim Fandango was awesome!

Could you rebuild that thread for this forum? (Copy it and alter what needs to be altered)

I think I will join the testing team. It will be fun to help out in this area.

My machines usually have 100% compatibility, so anything that goes wrong will be major and worth reporting I think.

Within a few days I'll write an improved one rather than just copying it. I don't want to make the changes in place, because most people will look at it just once.

Well, there is no simple way because probably 99% of all used code is developed upstream.

Ubuntu then intregates this upstream material, more or less in a good way.

Its also hard to find good Blueprints about upstream integrations.

One example is PulseAudio which can be studied here. (also about future) http://www.pulseaudio.org/

Another is Gnomes development http://live.gnome.org/
