and I see there are only 4 blueprints in launchpad. Does this mean:

  • Ubuntu devs havent updated Launchpad
  • Ubuntu core-devs are all working on Ubuntu-mobile behind closed doors since there's money to be made there for Canonical.
  • Development is slowing to a halt on Ubuntu as devs are moving to other projects/companies

I hope it's a, but am scared it might be b or c - can anyone reassure me?

Nice closed door assumption, but ubuntu mobile code is available here (click) and ubuntu netbook remix here (click).

Sorry for dissapointing your assumption, and please don't be bitter. Canonical is not self-sustainable as it is, and I'm sure you wouldn't want it to go down. Thanks!

It's A. The specification deadline isn't too strict, and there have been changes to the workflow (with UDS being held before any blueprints are even drafted). You can click "Show all blueprints" to view all proposed blueprints so far (as opposed to the four that have been approved so far).

Yeah, I was also worried about this. Can't wait to see what's cookin' for the next release :-)

I would be happy with is :-

  1. Some of the packages which have needs-packaging tag like Openbravo and others being part of Ubuntu 8.10
  1. Flash is a better experience on FF3 and other browsers which can support it.
  1. The wiki gets updated to a new version so people can save the wiki page to docbook and stuff.

We get kernel 2.6.26 and Gnome 2.24 (this we should get)

Btw I read the blueprints and didn't see the Intrepid ones, if somebody can point out would be nice.

Apart from this if we spring a surprise for us, so much the better ;)

Ah cool I didn't know the development was open, and I did realise every big linux distro has paid deveopers so it's entirely up to their employer what they're paid to work on.
