Hi all, While one of the updates/upgrades aptitude informs me that hal-device-manager is obsolete. Poking around on the forums I come across this link in the forums

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=588094

So my query is , is hal-device-manager obsoleted because of gnome-device-manager or something else altogether?

Any and all advice, comments on the same would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it is obsolete, yes. What's interesting is that your system still has it installed, since it was last present in Gutsy.

This was the case with my machine as well. I just installed gnome-device-manager and purged hal-device-manager.
